Donald Lee Jones, age 88, of Cleveland, a resident of the Tennessee State Veterans Home, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31st, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on November 10, 1936, in Peoria, Illinois to the late Wesley and Mazo Bonnie Ritter Jones, Donald lived a life defined by faith, integrity, and devotion to those he loved. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he carried his spirit of service and compassion into every aspect of his life.
Donald earned a degree in drafting and worked in design, but his true passion was working with his hands. Whether welding, fishing, or repairing cars, he found purpose and joy in creating and helping others. He was a devoted family man who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Donald was of the Seventh-day Adventist faith and found great comfort in his beliefs and the promise of eternal peace.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Samuel Jones; his brothers, Gerald (Pat) Jones and John Jones; his sisters, Marilyn (Dick) Stapleton and Cindy Jones.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Leona; his children, Paul Jones, Val (Keith) Boddy, and Dorothy Ross; his siblings, Sue Sears and Stephen Jones; and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff and residents of the Tennessee State Veterans Home for the exceptional care, kindness, and friendship show to Donald during his time as a resident.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 28, at Collegedale Memorial Park with Elder Troy McDougal officiating. Burial will be private.
Donald will be remembered for his kind heart, his quiet strength, and the love he shared so generously with everyone around him.
