Donald M. Kretzer of Coffeyville, Kansas peacefully passed away at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas on March 24, 2024 at the age of 62. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Don was born on June 10, 1961 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Emeral "Elaine" and Marion "Coot" Kretzer. He grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri and Denver, Colorado. He married Marjorie (Waller) on October 3, 1992 and they have two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joseph, Alec and Tori. His family lived in Houston, Texas for over 25 years where he worked and retired from United Airlines. Don and Margie recently retired to Coffeyville, Kansas where Don worked part-time at Hillcrest Golf Course.
Don never met a stranger. He had a servant's heart and a loving nature. Don enjoyed being outdoors, including hunting, fishing, playing golf and volunteering in the sports program at his previous church.
Don is preceded in death by maternal grandparents Donald and Flora Morlock, his paternal grandparents John Kretzer and Marjorie Kretzer Higdon and his father Marion (Coot) Kretzer. He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Waller), his sons Joseph and Alec (Tori), his mother Emeral (Elaine), his sister Vicki Hardesty (Jesse), his brothers Barry and Greg (Shannon) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of life service will take place on April 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in Houston at Champion Forest Baptist Church - Champions Campus with a visitation hour beginning at 1:00 p.m.
There will also be a second Celebration of Life service in St. Joseph, Missouri. More details will be announced later on.
