Gregory Fredrick Kretzer, 65, of Norfolk, VA died Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his dear sister's home.
He was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Thomas Edward Kretzer, Sr. and Ada Ruth Smoot. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Thomas "Tom" Kretzer, Jr. and Ernest "Bill" Kretzer and grandson Brad Lee Shanahan.
Greg was a 1977 Graduate of Deep Creek High School where he was an avid tennis and baseball player. His love for ball continued as he played semi-professional softball for many years. Greg was blessed to have been given a second chance at life after a major car accident. He never let a day pass without showing his daily love and trust in the Lord who carried him through many trying times. "God loves you, and so do I".
He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Meighan Shanahan (husband Brad), Wesley Shanahan, Bella Berman and Brayden Shanahan; Jessica Kriz (husband Bruno) Madison, Isabelle and Gavin Kriz; Jason Olander, Shoshanna Olander; Rebecca Kretzer; Anna Kretzer; and David Kretzer. He is also survived by his siblings Sue Bunting and Jeffrey Kretzer Sr; as well as many special nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown, Tidewater Drive Chapel on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 2PM to 2:30PM with a memorial service immediately following at 2:30PM. A reception will immediately follow at Wesley Grace United Methodist Church, located at 288 East Little Creek Rd. Norfolk, VA.
His children will plan an interment service at a later time.
