Mary McCoy Klemp, 82, passed away on June 25, 2025. Mary was born in Miami, Florida to the late David Shaw McCoy Sr and Martha Elizabeth Christmas McCoy. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings Alice Baker, George McCoy, Leonora Podruchny, David McCoy Jr (Mickey), Randall McCoy and her grandson, Noah Mosley.
Mary's family moved from Miami Florida to Norfolk County Virginia and settled in the Deep Creek section of the County in 1945. Mary graduated from Deep Creek High School in 1961. Mary served as the Secretary at Deep Creek High School from 1961-1966. Mary was introduced to the love of her life, Eugene W. Klemp Sr (Gene) at the Hornet's Nest and they married in 1962. They were married for 60 years before Gene's passing in 2023. Mary was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church where she kept the church nursery and volunteered at the Church Food Pantry for many years. Mary also offered child care in her home for over 25 years. Additionally Mary was a member of the Nettie Culpepper Circle at the church and a Past Bethel Guardian of Bethel #11, International Order of Job's Daughters.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Martha Klemp and Cynthia Klemp Mosley (Keith); Son, Eugene "Bud" Klemp Jr (Allison); two granddaughters: Tristin Mosley Ellis (Chris), Caroline Klemp; Grandson: William Klemp; Great Granddaughter: Kinlee McClintock; Great Grandson: Jace Ellis; Sister: Lydia Boalt (Fred); Brother: Clarence "Luke" McCoy (Mimi); Sister-in-laws: Joanne Klemp and Karen Klemp; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Shirin Zev, Dr. Krunal Patel, Dr. Ryan Seutter, the Centerwell Home Health Care Nurses and Therapists and the Nurses and Staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center-Airline for Mary's care during her illness. The family would also like to extend sincere gratitude to Bobbi Boettcher, Linda Johnson, Dixie Jernigan and our Mary Ann Court neighbors for their giving of their time and talents to Mom.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, 1112 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 3-5 pm. A Church Service will be held at 11am on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Deep Creek United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Lee Nelson. A graveside service is to be held at 10 am on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Albert G. Horton Memorial State Veteran's Cemetery, Suffolk.
