Donald Quick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care - Zionsville on Dec. 5, 2023.
Donald Gene Quick, 83, of Zionsville, Indiana, passed away gently in his sleep Wednesday morning, November 29, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 61+ years, Sue (Fisher) Quick of Zionsville, as well as his children Doug (Michelle), Scott (Shawn), Keith (fiancée Stephanie), Kevin (Mary Jo), and Kelly, as well as grandchildren Gabby, Brandon, Sophie, Teddy, Debi, Carson, and Cooper. Don was preceded in death by parents Willard Eugene Quick, Helen (Cole) Quick and brother Rudy Quick.
Don graduated from Broad Ripple High School ('58) and Purdue University ('63), where he was a member of Circle Pines Cooperative, and spent his entire 30+ year career working for General Motors in its Detroit Diesel Allison division, Allison Gas Turbine Data Transmission Department. Following early retirement, Don purchased the Al Heller Flag Co, and installed flagpoles, flags, and specialized banners to businesses and families throughout the Midwest. Don also found time to volunteer with Boone County Senior Services, the Allison's Retiree's group, the John Purdue Club, and both the Board of Directors and the Board of Elders of the Zionsville Christian Church, as well as coach Little League, and was Scout Master of Troop 358.
Don was an Eagle Scout and Philmont Ranch alumnus, and was a lover of knowledge with a particular interest in history and current events, and consumed books and media about the same at a torrid pace. He loved to try international cuisine, was a grill master and an amazing pie chef, whose wild black raspberry pies were legendary and much coveted.
Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care in Zionsville will host a calling at Zionsville Christian Church from 4p-7p on Thursday, December 7, with burial services to be held at 11 am on Friday, December 8 at ZCC.

Don and Sue Quick we soon learned ....dear friends of the Smiths our neighbors for many years in Raintree Place. My husband, Steven and I have very fond memories of Don´s sense of humor when he visited which was very frequently. Even though we were new to the Neighborhood this group of friends knew no strangers. As a Dad of many children, Don was so friendly, kind, and fun to be around. His dear wife Sue is a real favorite of ours and we are so very sorry for her loss. We are sorry we could not attend his visitation. . Peace and condolences to all he held near and dear..

We appreciate having known Don and his family since 1976 through the church and his community involvement. We are sorry for his passing and the loss for Sue, his children and grandchildren. Don was always available to assist others. We regret that we will not be able to attend his service. Gary & Kathy Collings
