Donald Reichert

Donald J. Reichert, 79 of Erie, passed away on Monday April 1st, 2025. Four days short of his 80th birthday.

Don was born in Erie on April 5th, 1945, one of nine children of the late Theodore P. and Marie (Wagner) Reichert.

Don graduated from Strong Vincent High School and attended Gannon University, graduating with a B.S. in Accounting. Don worked for many years at American General Life Insurance Co in Erie, PA. Don was an avid bowler and pool player, participating for many years in the Brothers Bowling Tournament with his 5 brothers. In his younger years Don enjoyed spending the summers in Cleveland, Ohio with his oldest sister Jean and brother-in-law Jim Jaksa where he became a lifelong Browns fan. Don was a kid at heart and always enjoyed playing and joking with all the kids at the family functions. Later in life Don enjoyed bowling with his brother-in-law Fred "Mousy" Pilliteri at the McKean Ushers club and playing pool and sometimes beating his older brother Ron. Don always loved fast cars and fast life and was especially proud of his 1969 Buick Gran Sport 400. Don most enjoyed leaving work early to play baseball, basketball, and football with his son Doug and the neighborhood boys in their backyard. Don was most proud of his son Doug and how he raised him to know the meaning of hard work, respect, manners, and to value what is most important in life: your relationships.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Jean Jaksa, Cathy Pilliteri, Charles Reichert, Richard Reichert, Theodore (Tweety) Reichert, Ronald Reichert, and Audrey Reichert.

Don is survived by his son Douglas Reichert, of Erie, brother Robert (Debbie) Reichert of Erie and many, many nieces and nephews who knew him as "Uncle Donnie!"
