It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald L. Rhein, who peacefully left us on June 15, 2025, at the age of 86, at his home in Ira Township, Michigan. Born on January 26, 1939, in Richmond, MI, Donald was the cherished son of Lawrence and Angela (Schloff) Rhein.
Donald was the beloved husband of Helga A. Vitting, with whom he shared 32 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving and devoted father to Kenneth (Tammy), Richard (Anna), and Steven (Marie) Rhein, as well as Roswitha (Herbert) Linke Wilson and Ilona H. (Tim) Rugg. He took immense pride in his family and was a doting grandfather to Jonathan (Amanda), Kendra (Joseph), Noah, Brandon (Megan), Jacob, Rachel, Sara, Brooklyn, Kevin, and Michael. Donald was also blessed with the joy of 9 great-grandchildren, who brought much happiness to his life.
Donald is survived by his dear siblings, Jim, Caroline, and Rose Mary. He is predeceased by his siblings, Arthur, Ed, Larry, Fred, Alfred, and Bernice. His memory will also be cherished by his extended family and friends, who were forever enriched by his presence and kindness.
