Donald “Richard” Reeves, 64, loving husband of 14 years to Terrie Chavous Reeves, entered Heaven’s gates on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at his residence, with family at his side. Richard, the son of the late Barbara Bailey Reeves and the late Robert Myron Reeves, was a native of Evans and had resided in Avera for the past 12 years.
Richard retired in 2022 after 30+ years of service as a skilled Sheet Metal Craftsman for Silver Sheet Metal. He loved to fish and in his younger years entered many bass tournaments where he was known for catching “the big bass”. Also in his down time, he enjoyed watching football. Richard’s main priority was his family and making sure they were cared for. He loved spending time with his grandchildren who stole his heart—he always made sure to have each one a piece of double bubble gum, a tradition to which each one expected and looked forward to.
Others left to cherish his memories include his children, Christina E. Reeves, Rhonda Peloquin (Richard), Anthony Daughtry (Jaydee), Casey Mumford (Brandon); brothers, Steven Reeves (Amanda), and Vernon K. Reeves; grandchildren, Payton L. Taylor, Jaycee Williams (Jason), Clayton Peloquin (AnnaLea), Owen Daughtry, Bentley Fitzgerald, Cassandra Mumford, Waylen Daughtry, Cathleen Mumford, Chenoa Mumford, Bailey Fitzgerald, Brandon Mumford II; and great grandchildren, James D. Raley-Taylor, Addalynn Taylor. He will be deeply missed by his three fur babies, Magnum, Bonnie, and GracieMay; as well as two nieces, three nephews and two great-nieces.
Richard was also preceded in death by a grandson Levy C. Peloquin and one angel baby.
Honored to be pallbearers include Anthony Daughtry, Brandon Mumford, Cassandra Mumford, Clayton Peloquin, Owen Daughtry and Richard Peloquin. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles E. Whitaker, Lee Daniels and Shaun Gilbert.
A Celebration of life will be held at 2:30PM Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the Dearing Full Gospel Church with Pastor Jerry Rockefeller officiating with interment following in the Walker Cemetery. Before the service, the immediate family will gather at 12:00 PM, followed by a visitation for family and friends from 12:30 – 2:30PM.
Due to their sudden, unexpected loss, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Dearing Full Gospel Church, 5156 Adams Chapel Rd, Dearing GA 30808, earmarked for “Richard Reeves service” OR directly to James Funeral Home, mailed to PO Box 588, Wrens GA 30833 or online at https://www.jamesfhwrens.com/resources/make-a-payment.
