Harold Jordan Sheppard, 70, a cherished member of the community, was born on December 12, 1954, and sadly passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta. A lifelong resident of Jefferson County, Harold's roots were deeply embedded in his hometown of Wrens and in Avera where he made his home. where he was raised and educated at Stapleton Academy.
Harold dedicated himself to his career, beginning his journey with Thiele Kaolin after graduating from Stapleton Academy. His commitment to the company was unwavering, leading to a remarkable 40 years of service before his retirement. He was well-known for his work ethic and contributions, which left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community.
Harold was a member of Wrens Christian Fellowship Church, formerly known as Wrens United Methodist Church, where he was a member for many years. His faith played a vital role in his life, guiding him in his simple and humble approach to living. Harold enjoyed the tranquility of nature, often indulging in his passion for hunting and processing the meat. He also had a talent for woodworking, taking pride in crafting various items. A lover of bargains, he could often be found at yard sales, appreciating the thrill of finding treasure among overlooked items.
A devoted family man, Harold is remembered for his love and care for his family. He is survived by his bride, Liping Shen, and his daughter, Heidi Edwards, alongside her husband, Mickey. His legacy continues through his sisters, Sandra Adams (Marc) and Janet Dickson (Smith), along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who held him dear to their hearts. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Cheryl Hunter Sheppard; and his parents, Barbara “Joan” Boulineau Sheppard and Warren “Buck” Sheppard.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Wrens Christian Fellowship Church with Rev. Chad Watkins officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Family, friends, and those whose lives he touched are invited to come together to celebrate his life and share in the memories that will forever be cherished.
Harold's life was characterized by warmth, kindness, and a true appreciation for the small joys that life offered. Though he leaves behind memories of love and laughter, he is now at peace.
