Mr. Harry Batchelor passed away peacefully at his residence Thursday morning, March 6, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 21, 1943, in Millen, Harry resided on a family-oriented farm in Midville and lived there until his health decline in 2022 when he moved moved to live with his daughter in Avera not long after the passing of his beloved wife.

Harry left school at an early age in order to contribute to the family's needs, demonstrating his dedication to family and his strong work ethic. Throughout his life, Harry's commitment to hard work led him to run a paving company and then later going into maintaining and working on a farm well after his retirement and until 2022.

Harry was not only a skilled construction worker but also a man who prioritized his family above all else. His loving and generous nature allowed him to provide for his family, and whatever he had, even if it wasn’t much, he always selflessly offered help to others in need.

Harry was known for his simple, humble demeanor and a sense of humor that resonated with those around him. He was a beloved mentor, particularly to his grandchildren, serving as a great role model who instilled values of kindness and perseverance. A believer, he maintained a close relationship with Jesus, his Lord and Savior. His optimistic view of life was due to his faith. He had a gift for finding positivity even in life's struggles.

In addition to his enduring love for family, Harry found great joy and contentment in spending time outdoors, even if it was while he was working. The beauty of God's creation was a source of inspiration and awe for him.

He is survived by his children Valerie Dunn, Michelle Fuller, Marcia Ducey, Quitina Batchelor, Loretta Herzog (James), and Howard Batchelor; his sister, Ida Mae McKinney; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends who will remember him fondly.

Harry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Bell Batchelor; his parents, Norma Lee Burke Batchelor and Pete Batchelor; and his siblings, Larry Batchelor, Cecil Batchelor, Ann Batchelor, and Jeanette Owens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00Am – 1:00PM, Tuesday, March 11,2025 at James Funeral Home followed by a graveside service to honor his life at 3:00PM in the Millen City Cemetery with Rev. Joe Bedgood officiating.

His legacy of love, hard work, and unwavering faith will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

** A Bible passage for Mr. Harry **

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
