Donald "Don" Francis Scullion of DeWitt, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, after a long illness. He was born on June 23, 1942, in Auburn, NY to the late Henry and Dorothy (Slattery) Scullion, and grew up in Jordan, NY. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol (Schreyer); brother-in-law, Glandon Laing; and sister-in-law, Kathy Scullion. He is survived by his three sons, Patrick Scullion of DeWitt, NY (wife Quinn Kerrigan Scullion), Jeffrey Scullion of Bear Creek Village, PA (wife Stacey Smith Scullion) and Jonathan Scullion of DeWitt, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Madison, Brevin, Nate, Ellie, Donovan and Ian Scullion; and four siblings, Paul Scullion of Syracuse, NY (wife Kate Scullion), Jean Laing of Jordan, NY, William Scullion of Stuarts Draft, VA and Edward Scullion of Auburn, NY. He was deeply loved by his immediate and extended family including many in-laws and nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of the 1960 class of Jordan High School (NY) and the 1967 class of the Albany College of Pharmacy (NY). After graduation, he immediately began a career in the Pharmacy department at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He continued working at Crouse until his retirement in December of 2008 and then returned part-time until 2019, a total of 52 years. He is still known by many medical professionals in the Syracuse area from the many decades he served at Crouse. Don was an avid golfer and long-standing member of The Pompey Club, rarely missing a weekend tee-time. Besides golf, his favorite sport was baseball, and he was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan. His favorite hobby was woodworking. He stained, treated and finished almost every piece of wood furniture he touched. He was a self-taught carpenter and beautifully renovated many rooms in his house. He loved summer vacations with his immediate and extended family in Inlet, NY and later enjoyed traveling with Carol to the Adirondacks and Atlantic City, NJ. His later years were spent tirelessly caring for his wife and getting her to appointments, including dialysis multiple times per week. He loved his grandchildren and was deeply proud of their scholastic and professional pursuits. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. A public viewing will be held at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd East, DeWitt, NY on Monday, May 12, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. His Funeral Mass will be at Holy Cross Church, 4112 E Genesee Street, DeWitt, NY on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt, NY.
