Donald Bernard Sellers, affectionately known as Donnie, was a beacon of resilience and warmth whose life journey touched the hearts of many. Born on November 24, 1953, in Wadesboro, North Carolina, he was the son of Margie and Percy Sellers. Donald's early years were spent helping his father with the pulpwood business, where he developed a tenacity and work ethic that would serve him well throughout his life.

A man of many talents, Donald navigated the complexities of life with humor and intellect. Known for his sharp wit and keen insights, he was a stranger to no one, often engaging others with his wealth of sayings and interpretations of biblical truths. His passion for music and sports was evident in his youth, where he showcased his athleticism in basketball and baseball. Despite facing challenges later in life, including visual impairment, Donald's spirit remained unyielded. He continued to inspire those around him, proving that one’s limitations do not define them.

Donald found solace in gardening, a cherished hobby where he cultivated splendid container gardens filled with peppers, collard greens, and tomatoes. Neighbors fondly recall him tending to his plants with such care and devotion, often striking up conversations with them as he watered their roots. His gardening became a source of joy for the community, with many eagerly anticipating his generous offerings each season. A devoted fisherman, he also found peace by the water's edge, reveling in the simple pleasures life offered.

His love for football was unwavering, and he was a die-hard fan of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. Donald's dedication extended beyond hobbies; he demonstrated true strength and pride in his independent nature and was fiercely dedicated to his family. The bond he shared with his daughter, Felicia Williams Brown, was remarkable and stood as a testament to his commitment as a father. He was always there for her during times of need, imparting wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love.

Donald’s legacy is carried on through his living family members. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Felicia; his twin brother Ronald, and brother Purcell; his sister Denise; son-in-law Timothy; grandchildren Shawn, Kevin, and Olivia; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him fondly. His family shares a collective pride in the life he crafted, each of them enriched by his presence.

Though many dear to him have passed on, including his parents Margie and Percy, and siblings—Mary Alice, Wanda Kay, Francis Bernard, and Phillip Mitchell--his grandson Shemar Williams—as well as his sons Donald Bernard Sellers, Jr. and Zycheaus Tyrik Moore—Donald’s spirit lives on in the love and memories he cultivated throughout his life.

Donald Bernard Sellers peacefully departed this world on October 1, 2025, in Hillsborough, North Carolina, leaving behind not just the memories of his laughter and love but a legacy of resilience and inspiration for future generations. As we remember Donnie or Papa Don (a name assigned to him by his grandkids), we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with countless moments of joy, love, and growth. His spirit, ever strong, will guide and protect those who carry his memory forward.
