Donald "Don" R. Sherge, 90, of Butler, formerly of Midway, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Butler Memorial Hospital.
Don was born on August 14, 1935 in Midway, the son of the late Stanley and Ruth Loraski
.
Mr. Sherge was a proud United States Air Force Veteran. Don worked as an inspector for Allegheny Airlines / USAir Ways. He loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors. Don served for 20 years as a Deputy Game Warden for Washington County. He truly loved nature and enjoyed taking care of it for many years. The small town of Midway also had Don's heart. He was an elder at his church, Midway Center United Presbyterian. You can't talk about Don without mentioning his love for Pittsburgh sports. Don was always cheering on the Steelers, Penguins and Penn State Football.
Surviving are his children, Ray (Susan) Sherge and Dawn Starr (Robert) Lytle, grandchildren, Heather Sherge, Kristi (Joe) English, Kelli Sherge, Christopher Lytle, Brittany (Travis) Edney and Nicklaus (Bailee Bove) Lytle, great grandchildren, Liam, Noah and Layla Edney and Reece Lytle, sister, Vicki Lee (Ronald) Dzikowski, and step-children, Donald, Debra and Dennis Stone.
Along with his parents, Don is preceded in death by his wife, Christine Wasik Sherge (2020).
An inurment with full Military honors will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 10:30 am at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. All are asked to arrive by 10:15-10:20 am the day of service. Donald will be laid to rest with his wife Christine.
