Donald Royce Speir, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on July 10, 1951, in Muskegon, Michigan to George Williard Speir and Lucille Houseman Speir, Donald grew up in Tucson, Arizona. He attended Reading High School in Reading, Michigan.
Donald dedicated 26 years of his life to service at DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit), formerly known as D.T.S (Dallas Transit Systems), where he worked as a Maintenance Mechanic until his retirement in 2011. He was known for his diligent work ethic and commitment to excellence.
A devout member of the Assemblies of God Pentecostal Church, Donald found solace and strength in his faith throughout his life. He had a passion for literature and cinema, spending countless hours reading books and watching movies. Donald also enjoyed tinkering with gadgets and performing maintenance and repairs.
He is survived by his brother David Speir, sister Katherine Howe, nieces, nephews, and many other cherished family members and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Speir and Lucille Speir.
Special acknowledgements are extended to friends Willie and Julie Myers, as well as the staff and nurses at Midlothian Healthcare Center and Hospice Plus for their compassionate care.
To celebrate Donald's life, a visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 1 to 2 in the afternoon at Midlothian Funeral Home. A service will follow at 2 with Larry Atchley officiating. Donald will be laid to rest at Newton Cemetery in Midlothian.
Donald will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kind spirit, unwavering dedication, and love for his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
