Pastor Don left this earth for his heavenly home surrounded by his family on June 23rd, 2025. He
was born into humble beginnings on August 7th, 1943 in Honobia, OK. He grew up in a family
rich in relationship and full of faith. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Kay Spradling, in
Springfield Oregon. He had a deep love of learning and in 1966 graduated from East Central
University in Ada, Oklahoma. Don started his career teaching high school English. In 1966, He
was called to teach and preach the Gospel vocationally.
In the early years of his ministry, he pastored various churches in Oregon, Texas, and Oklahoma. While he loved his church family, he treasured the arrival of both his children, Greg & Stephanie Spradling above all else. In 1974, he boldly followed his calling to Concord, California to lead Calvary Temple. At Calvary Temple, he nurtured his children through their formative years and left an eternal impact on many. He then pastored Christian Life Church in Long Beach, CA. During his 19-year tenure, Pastor Don served this vibrant community and dedicated all 3 of his grandchildren to the Lord at CLC.
After moving to Tyler TX, Pastor Don's retirement turned into one of the greatest joys of his ministry. He founded CrossPointe Church in 2007. During the next decade of ministry, he demonstrated how Godly obedience could impact countless lives. From 50 people meeting in the Ramada Inn Ballroom, he had a vision to see a packed-out sanctuary and the faithfulness to see if happen on the FM2813 campus in 2010.
In 2015, he entrusted the leadership of CrossPointe to Pastor Jonathan & Andrea Ellison. Under
this new generation of leadership, Pastor Don celebrated how God continued to bless and expand this ministry to new bounds.
He was called Pastor Don to his church family, Brother to his 8 siblings, Papa to his 3 grandchildren, Daddy to his children, & Honey to his wife Kay. Whether in the sanctuary, on the golf course, or at the corner table at Starbucks; Don looked for ways to love people like Jesus.
As an avid runner & believer in Christ, Pastor Don fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith.
