Donald Lee "Don" Taylor, 85, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Friday, October 31, 2025, at home with family by his side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Don was born Thursday, May 3, 1940, in Mill Creek, a son of the late Kenneth Taylor and Effie Lambert Taylor. He was twice married. First, to Evelyn McCauley Gibson who survives, and then, he was married to Wenda Marie Lanham, who preceded him in death.
Left to cherish Don's memory are five children, Ricky Taylor and wife, Kathy, Rhonda Taylor, Chad Taylor, Serena Arbogast and husband, Ronnie, and Jessica Cassell and husband, Jeff, two brothers, Ronald Taylor and Delmar Taylor, and one sister, Millie Weese, sixteen grandchildren, Tailynn, Leighton, Branson, Zachary, Courtney, Melissa, Steven, Shelley, Shawn, Jaime, Kimberly, Robbie, Ryan, Craig, Trevor, and Adam, several great grandchildren, and one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, daughter-in-law, Carla Taylor, and son-in-law, Sparky Armstrong.
Others preceding Don in death were two children, Robert Taylor and Carla Armstrong, and five siblings, Coleman Currence, Clayton Currence, Roger Taylor, Lawrence Taylor, and Idell Moore.
Don attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked cutting timber, worked at the tannery in Durbin, and as a coalminer for Morrison Coal Company and Gamble Coal Company. He enjoyed coon hunting, camping, working horses, raising chickens, and riding his 4-wheeler.
Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 11am until 1pm. Don's request for cremation will then be honored, and interment will take place at Brick Church Cemetery.
