Glen Earnest Hamrick, 89, a resident of Monterville, passed from this life Thursday, November 13, 2025, at his home surrounded by family and under the care of WV Caring.
Glen was born on Tuesday, March 24, 1936, in Monterville, a son of the late Arnold Rufus Hamrick and Celia Simmons Hamrick. On July 23, 1960, in Webster Springs, he was married to the former Judy Lane Jones who preceded him in death on October 26, 2023. They had celebrated sixty-three years of marriage.
Left to cherish Glen's memory is one daughter, Penny Arbogast and husband, Estil, of Monterville, three grandchildren, Sarah Salisbury, Shasta Hamrick, and Christopher Arbogast, three great-grandchildren that Glen and Judy raised as their own, Mackenzie Hamrick, Karleigh Hamrick, and Serena Arbogast, seven great-grandchildren, Destiny See, Mason Arbogast, Xavier McCune, Braxton McCune, Zayden McCune, Raylan Lanham, and Payson Lanham, one sister, Betty Wood and husband, Wilson of Mingo, one brother, Void Hamrick and wife, Cleo, of Monterville, a special niece, Rainy Jones of Monterville, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Glen in death besides his parents and wife was one daughter, Pattie J. Hamrick Salisbury, two grandchildren, Tommy Salisbury and Brandy Arbogast, ten siblings, Norman, James "Bud", Benny, Denzil, Arby, Josephine, Thelma, Helen, Junior, and Wanda, a brother-in-law and close friend, James "Jimmy" Jones.
Glen attended the schools of Randolph County. He had worked as a coal miner for Bethlehem Steel. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and wood working. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Christian man and had attended the Point Mountain Church and Markley Chapel.
A visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday, November 17, 2025, from 5pm until 7pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11 AM. Pastor Billy Young and Rev. Marshall Williams will officiate, and interment will follow in Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head.
