Ann Gainer Brobst, 74, a resident of Parsons, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, after a long illness. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Ann was born in Parsons on Wednesday, February 21, 1951, a daughter of the late James Franklin Gainer and Phyllis Evans McLuckie Gainer. She had been married to Edward Joseph Brobst, Jr., who preceded her in death on November 2, 2023.
Left to cherish Ann's memory are two children, Edward James Brobst and wife, Becka of Parsons and a step daughter, Nicole Brobst Hope of Birchwood, TN, one special son, Daniel Moore, and her caregiver Corey Kinzy, whom she loved like a daughter, one sister-in-law, Sharon Brobst Lipscomb, and husband, Arnold, two brothers-in-law, Paul and David Wayne Brobst, and several nieces and nephews.
Ann was raised in Thomas. She graduated Mountaineer high School in 1969 and from Shepherd University in 1973. Ann trained as a CNA and worked in that capacity for twenty-six years. She also worked for five years at the Parsons Shoe Plant as well as several years in home health care.
Preceding Ann in death besides her parents and husband was a son, Robert Frederick "Bone" Townsend, and her only brother, Jim Gainer.
Ann was a member of the St. Johns Church in Parsons. She praised God in song as a soloist. Altogether, she sang for fifty-two years before stopping due to her health. Ann also liked to read and sew. She loved cats and those that remain will be cared for by her caregiver as long as they live.
Ann's request for cremation will be honored. She also had requested memorial contributions be made to the St. Johns Church, Tucker County Animal Shelter, or Tucker County Senior Center.
