Donald Lee Vanover, age 89, of Parkers Lake, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.
Don was born in Parkers Lake, Kentucky on July 9, 1936 at the home of his parents; Gilbert L. Vanover and Elsie Marie (Neal) Vanover. His parents preceded him in death.
Don is survived by his loving son and daughter-in-law: Gary Lee and Wendy (Tucker) Vanover of Parkers Lake, KY., brother: Dr. Gilbert L. VanOver, Jr. and sister; Zella Faye Mills, brother-in-law; Scott Bryant of Louisville, KY., and sister-in-law; Pearlie Childres of Somerset, KY.
Don is preceded in death by his loving wife; Barbara Ann (Stringer) Vanover, whom passed on April 29, 2015 after 60 years of marriage. Don and Barbara’s precious son; Ronald Dean Vanover, sisters; Ella Mae Wilson and Wilma Jean Bryant, brother; Darrell Ray Vanover, brother-in-law; James Childres and infant siblings; Shirley Dean, Doyle Ray, Vernon Lee and Ronnie Lee preceded Don in death.
Don retired from Ford Motor Company in Batavia, Ohio, then continued to own and operate Ron’s Market, in Parkers Lake, KY. Don enjoyed music, vacationing in South Carolina, great restaurants, shopping, square dancing and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Don was a member of the Henry Barns Masonic Lodge for many years and holds a life-time membership.
Funeral services are being held for Donald Vanover on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of McCreary County Funeral Home, with visitation being at 11:00 am, until time for services. Brother Alan Coffey are officiating and burial will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery.
