TERRE HAUTE-Donald K. Vibbert, 80, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. He was a retired maintenance man for Chesty Foods and Burger King. He was born August 20, 1943, in Burkesville, Kentucky to the late Arthur Lee Vibbert and Ada Pernie Abney Vibbert. His wife Gladys Rogers Vibbert whom he married December 25, 1963, preceded him in death June 5, 1970. On August 26, 1978, he married Jean Lang Vibbert and she survives. Also surviving, daughter, Laura (Joe) Ingram of Terre Haute; son, Tony Vibbert of Indianapolis; loved ones, Robert Roberts of Terre Haute, Leigh Ann Davis of Riley, Carole Sekerak of Paris, Illinois, Lori Prouse of Chrisman, Illinois, Angie Sekerak of Terre Haute, Penny Zale of Carmel and Holly Horned of Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; his faithful companion Ratchet. He was preceded in death by a daughter Theresa Davis and six siblings.
He was a member of Oregon Baptist Church and Bass Masters of Terre Haute, and a former member of Prairieton Masonic lodge 178. He served on the Fire Crew of Terre Haute Action Track and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He raced Quarter Midgets and enjoyed fishing and bowling. He cooked for Sati-Babi for nearly 50 years.
Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, December 22, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 281 N. Main Street, Rosedale. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation is 12 noon until 2:00 pm Friday at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home.
Memorials should friends so desire, may be made to Terre Haute Humane Society, PO Box 3307, Terre Haute, IN 47803 in his memory.
