Donald E. Waldecker, 84, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and family, on October 16, 2023 after a long battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He is survived by his wife, Violet, his sister, Nelda Moore, his two sons, Michael and Toney, and three grandchildren. Also, four step-daughters Debbie Bang (Bill), Diane Follin (Wayne), Denise Smith (Bill), Sally Plaisance (Fred), 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
Don was an entrepreneur and had a great mind for all things mechanical. He owned and operated a successful automobile business in Falls Church VA and most recently Stay Side Systems and Products, a marine sales and services company in Virginia Beach. He was highly respected by his business associates for his knowledge and expertise in the field of marine products and repair. He consulted in developing and enhancing many products and held numerous patents.
Don was an Army veteran, a pilot, an inventor, as well as a sea captain. He was an adventurous mariner who loved traveling. He was a lifetime member of the Capital Yacht Club where he and Violet lived aboard their yacht for 20 years, and enjoyed cruising with family and friends to some fantastic ports of call. Don enjoyed music and was particularly fond of the song, "I'll Remember You" by Frank Ifield.
Above all, the most important thing to Don was his family, friends and faith. Don, we will miss you beyond measure. We will remember you and how you touched our lives.
Service will be held Sunday, October 29, 2:00pm at Hollomon-Brown Lynnhaven Chapel, 3600 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice Care, 814 Greenbrier Circle, Suite F, Chesapeake, VA 23320 in lieu of flowers.

I meet Don 1979 when I applied for a job. I like him right away. The interview went well and he told me he was only interested in quality workmanship and would not accept anything less. We where both on the same page and he offered me the job. I work for Don for 5 years and he would give me advise about a lot of things but never pushed. I was 19 years old so I knew everything anyway. As all 19 year olds did. I listen to him as he pushed me to buy my first house. Hone my mechanical ability to make me a better mechanic. What I have learned from Don was applied to my own business. I still use then to this day 39 year later. No one knows who will make a difference in there lives till we get older and look back in time. I am thankful that a friend talked me into applying for the job ( Wayne Powers). Thankful that Don was a friend and a mentor. He will be missed but not forgotten.
