Donald Rey Walker, affectionately known as Hop, went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2025, in Pecos, Texas.

Donald was born on August 13, 1956, in Pecos, Texas, to his beloved mother, Hattie Bea Hall Wilson. He was her only child and the pride of her life.

At an early age, Donald joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where his faith was nurtured under the leadership of Reverend Lon Bailey. His spiritual foundation remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Donald was truly a legend in Pecos. He started playing sports as a young child where his athletic abilities quickly set him apart. He graduated Pecos High School and went on to continue his education at Texas Tech and Sul Ross State University , excelling both academically and athletically.

Hop was widely regarded as one of the most talented athletes to ever come out of Pecos, his gifts on the field were undeniable. Donalds talents helped carry him and his teammates to World Series appearances, championship titles, and ultimately an opportunity to play professional baseball with the Oakland A’s. His determination, discipline, and relentless drive not only propelled him through sports but carried him through life’s many challenges as well.

Beyond his accomplishments, Donald will be remembered most for his infectious smile—a smile that could speak to your soul and light up any room. His presence left a lasting impression, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Donald was preceded in death by his stepfather, Earlie Wilson; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Walker, Willie B. Hall, and Mrs. Beatrice Robinson; his great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Hopkins; and his uncle, Donnie Lee Hall.

Donald is survived by his loving mother, Hattie Bea Hall Wilson of Pecos, Texas; his siblings, Dwayne Walker, Regina Walker, and Darren Walker, all of San Antonio, Texas; his uncles, Robert Lee Walker of Missouri City, Texas, and Jackie Robertson of Houston, Texas; and his aunt, Velma Hudley of Killeen, Texas.

He is also survived by his step siblings, Tommy Glen Wilson and Jeanette Swain, both of Houston, Texas.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory his children: Tyrus Brooks of California; Derrick Jenkins of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Shanae and Marshall Harlen of Odessa, Texas; Diona and Robert Lartigue of Pecos, Texas; Adria Walker of Pecos, Texas; Briana Walker of Redlands, California; Donald Rey Walker Jr. of Pecos, Texas; and Joshua Sanders of Killeen, Tx.

He is further survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

Donald answered God’s call and entered eternal rest. As Scripture reminds us, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” While we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing he now dwells in God’s presence, free and whole, watching over those he loved so deeply.

Active Pallbearers; Donald Rey Walker Jr, Jesse Brown III, Deson Mitchell, Erek Brown Jr, D'Marcus Cameron & Jibari Fite Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers: will be Mike Hall, Mike Sadler, Deavin Shorter, Don Barton, Joshua Sanders & Israel Navarrete
