Don was born May 3, 1932, in Morrisville, VT the son of Clifford and Gertrude Whittemore. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Whittemore, their daughters, Deborah Daunheimer, Patricia (Jeffrey) Luptak, their granddaughters: Andrea (Jordan) Svejda, Lauren (Dominic) Fatigato, Meagan Luptak, and Jessica Luptak, their great grandchildren, Henry Svejda, Emily Svejda, Luca Fatigato and Miles Fatigato, brothers, Dean (Fonda) Whittemore, David Whittemore and, sister Darlene Whittemore.
Don entered the U.S. Navy in 1950. After his service he attended Aurora College. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Pearl Whipple and they had 67 years together. Don and Pearl remained in Aurora, where Don owned a Service Master franchise. Later after selling the franchise, he worked at the Beacon News in Aurora.
Don had a love for trains and airplanes, he loved to read everything from Westerns, History and the Bible. Don and Pearl loved to travel, especially to Vermont where they both were born, to visit family and friends. Don loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a devoted family man.
Visitation will be held, Friday, February 7, 2025 at 1pm at The Redeemer Community Church in Aurora, IL, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2pm. There will be a private burial.
