Our Beloved Mother and Grandmother Donette Burton Scott passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2025 at the age of 88. Donette was born on February 9, 1937 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Melvin Cummings Burton and Euleta Seigrid Walton. She was the fourth of six children, growing up in a home full of love, laughter and faith.
Donette met her eternal companion while attending BYU and married James Frederic Earl Scott in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 9, 1958. They raised 6 children in a home built on the principles of faith, family and service. Donette was a devoted mother who taught her children the importance of love, integrity and hard work. Her legacy of faith and devotion will live on in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Donette was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her deep love for the gospel of Jesus Christ guided her throughout her life. She faithfully served in dozens of various callings. Some of her favorites were, Girls Camp Director, Home Making Committee and Compassionate Service as well as a serving a full time mission in Tulsa OK. Donette enjoyed serving and participating with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Evergreen was close to her heart. She was a certified Master Gardener and enjoyed sharing her experience and knowledge of gardening with anyone who would listen. Alpine Gardens, Willard Bay Gardens and Rainbow Gardens will certainly miss her business and visits.
Donette is survived by her loving children James Michael Scott: Kathryn (Scott) Heiner: Phillip (Cathy) Scott: Russell Burton Scott: Sandra Scott Neeley and Laura Scott. 22 Grand Children, 35 Great Grand Children and 2 Great Great Grand Children. We invite you to join us in celebrating Donette's life on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm MDT at Myers Mortuary - Ogden, and on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9:30-10:30 am MDT at Pleasant View 1st Ward. The funeral service will occur on Monday, August 18, 2025, at 11:00 am MDT at Pleasant View 1st Ward.
