Donna Jo Andrews, born on October 31, 1943, in Palestine, Texas, departed from this world on November 14, 2025, in Littleton, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. Her life was a testament to the profound impact one individual can have, particularly in the realm of education and personal connections.

Donna devoted a significant part of her career to teaching special education students at all levels, fostering growth and learning across Jefferson County, Colorado, and Arlington, Texas. She retired from a fulfilling teaching career, yet her passion for education remained unwavering. In retirement, she served for nine years as the academic teacher and coordinator at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. There, she dedicated herself to keeping spinal and brain-injured patients on track for academic progress, bringing her enthusiasm and ingenuity to her student/patients providing a positive impact . Known for her creativity, energy, and the ability to discover and implement effective teaching techniques, Donna made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Her education was a journey of commitment and excellence. She attended Abilene High School in Texas and went on to graduate with honors from the University of Wyoming, where she earned her Master’s degree in Special Education in 1967. Donna’s diverse experiences enhanced her understanding and advocacy, allowing her to be a tireless champion for her students.

Many will remember Donna for her kind and caring nature. Her creative spirit shone not only in her professional life but also in her hobbies and interests, which included all kinds of arts and crafts. She possessed remarkable skills in her creations, finding joy in outdoor activities such as fishing, rafting, and horseback riding. Donna also loved to watch and engage in competitive sports. Family and friends alike cherished her timely and appropriate sense of humor, which brought laughter and warmth to any gathering. Donna was selfless and dedicated to putting others first, embodying a love that was palpable in every interaction.

Donna’s proudest accomplishments extended beyond her professional life. She celebrated a loving marriage of 57 years to her husband, Sam, and basked in the joy of being a devoted mother to her daughter, Stacey (Michael), and her son, John. She deeply cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandsons Jace, Ryan, Jacob, Brek, Lake, and Gray, and granddaughter Samantha, leaving an indelible mark on their lives as a proud Christian influence and guiding light. Donna is also survived by her dear sister Janice (John) Summers.

Donna is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Joe and Dorothy Whittington. Her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continually inspire her family and friends, who remain grateful for the time they shared. As we remember Donna Jo Andrews, let us celebrate not only her life and achievements but also the extraordinary spirit that touched so many hearts. She leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering support, one that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
