She was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on November 7, 1938 to Leonard and Jewel Alexander Davis. Donna spent her childhood in Bray, Oklahoma; Phoenix, Arizona; El Reno, Oklahoma; and
Lawton, Oklahoma. She was raised on the family dairy farm and attended Scott School. While working on the farm, she met the love of her life, James "Jimmy" Cargill. The two married on September 14, 1955, and built their life together on a farm southeast of Cache. There, they raised six children-five amazing and one really amazing. (we'll let you figure out which one that was.)
Donna was a devoted wife and mother, proud of the family she and Jimmy raised and the values they instilled. For many years, she worked as a homemaker on the family farm before pursuing a career outside the home. She worked as a veterinary technician at Great Plains Veterinary Clinic, later at Angus Clinic as a receptionist, and finally alongside Dr. Brent Smith until her retirement. After retiring, Donna found her greatest joy as a substitute teacher, where she delighted in meeting new faces and even teaching a few of her grandchildren. She continued substituting until 2020, when she decided it was finally time to slow down.
Donna had an infectious smile, a kind heart, and a wonderful sense of humor. She loved to laugh and, more importantly, loved to make others laugh.
She is survived by her daughters, Sonia Cargill of Houston, TX, Terri Elrod of
Lawton, OK, and Laura High and husband, Tony of Walters, OK; her sons and daughters in law, Alvin and Carla Cargill, Jay and Martina Cargill, and Mike and Kim Cargill, all of Cache, OK.
