CAVANAUGH
Donna Marie Cavanaugh, 66, of Sparta, IL; born on April 24, 1957 in Rockville, IN the daughter of Patrick Cavanaugh and Margaret (Reid) Layton; passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. A battle that she waged with amazing grace, great strength, and dignity. In her final week, she was surrounded by family and inundated with love and support from extended family and dear friends.
Donna touched the lives of so many people with her boundless empathy, gentle hearts, warm smile, and love of life and laughter. Many fond memories and stories will live on in our hearts, thoughts, and discourse. That is the mark of a life well lived. She will be sorely and forever missed, but never forgotten. Godspeed Donna Cavanaugh.
She is survived by her partner in life's journey – Allen Davis; two daughters – Jacqueline (Valdez) Stone of St. Louis, MO and Kaitlyn (Davis) Athmer of Steeleville, IL; one son – Dillon Davis of Shiloh, IL; one step son – Ty Davis of California; beloved grandchildren – Audrey, Anthony, Margaret, Adelie, and Griffin; three siblings – Patricia Cavanaugh of Steeleville, IL, Jerry Cavanaugh of St. Louis, MO, and Tim Cavanaugh of Washington; two sons-in-law – Tony Stone and Aaron Athmer, whom she loved as her own.
Donna was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Reid Layton and her father, Patrick Cavanaugh.

Committal Services will take place at Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville, IL on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Mathis officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
