Donna Fay Cody
1944-2024
Donna Fay Cody, 80, of Millcreek-a most authentic, spunky, and selfless soul-was taken by the hand and led home by her precious Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. She chose the parting words, "Goodbye world; hello LORD!"
She was born August 29, 1944 in Albuquerque, NM to the late Carl Henry (C.H.) Mowery and Erna Beatrice Irby Mowery. She was a twin to the late Don Ray Mowery and had nine siblings. She was raised in the Salvation Army in Albuquerque where she met her forever love, Gary Robert Cody, while he was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base. They married on August 30, 1961 and enjoyed 57 years together before parting by death.
Donna once came up to Erie, PA for "vacation" but ended up staying for over fifty years to raise two sons and grandkids. She served as homemaker, cook at Carlisle's, and inventory specialist at Clark Electric. She was a dedicated Christian soldier, Proverbs 31 wife, devoted mother, supportive grandma, adoring great grandma (G.G.), loyal friend, feisty champion of the underdog, unashamed proclaimer of Truth, and courageous bearer of burdens. Ultimately, she will be remembered for two things: she loved the LORD and family fiercely and did her best to serve both.
Donna was a faithful member of Providence Reformed Baptist Church for over 30 years. She studied the Word of God and put His words into action-doing and not hearing only. She burned brightly for Christ and led by example, doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God. She persisted in the faith, trusting in God's promises but never ceasing to focus on her walk with the Lord, and she never hesitated to check on the walks of those she loved. She bore fruit in her lifetime that will never die, leaving an everlasting mark on the hearts of those that love her beyond words.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C.H. and Erna; eight siblings; her beloved husband, Gary; and her grandson, Blade Tyler Strong.
She is sorely missed by two sons, Gary and Carl Cody (Sue); a former daughter-in-law, Kathy Sheldon (Guy); one brother, David Eugene "Gene" Mowery; one brother-in-law, Hubert Delroy "Hugh" Cody; six grandchildren, Desirée, Megan (Joel), Carl, Zachary (Kathleen), Abby, and Seth; her grandson's widow, Ellie; and five treasured great-grandchildren, Ryder, Ronin, Callum, Sidney, and Theodora.
Donna longed to return to church, so we will celebrate her life on the Lord's Day (Sunday) October 13, 2024. Friends may call at Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd., from 2:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 4:00 p.m., conducted by Pastor John Swindlehurst. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Reformed Baptist Church, PO Box 3254, Erie, PA 16508.

We were neighbors for many, many years. Our sons were best friends. I was just home in August and stopped to see her, she was packing to move. I am so sad. So sorry for your loss. She was a sweet woman

The first time I met Donna and Gary was back in the '60's when we were on the same Bowling league together. We remained friends throughout the years. Rest in the Saviors arms Donna, you will be missed down here.
