Donna Jean Cooper, age 94, of Slippery Rock, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Born March 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late H. Eugene and Lois (Studebaker) Hunt.
She was a graduate of Slippery Rock Area High School, soon after she married James L. Cooper and started a family, she continued her education earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1961 and then earned her Master at Slippery Rock University.
She began her Teaching career in Slippery Rock in 1965 and then moved to the Middle School as a beloved Science Teacher. After retirement she started Substitute Teaching in Butler School District ending in 2017 with a combined total of 52 years of teaching.
She was a long-time member of Center United Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed golfing, singing/yodeling, traveling, ballroom/square dancing, and ceramic. She also owned the Eagle's Nest in Slippery Rock.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Karen (Sam) Douthett, Sharon (Gary) Braden, Christine (Bill) Klink; her sister, Patricia (Chuck) Dean; grandchildren Troy (Li Lijan) Douthett, Mindi (Vince) D'Antoni, Corey (Stacey) Braden, Wade (Stephanie) Braden, Tamila (Nick) Normand; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Preceded in death were her parents, her brother Melvin Hunt, and sister Noami Wolff.
A special thank you goes to all the caregivers at Magnolia Place in Saxonburg and Monarch Hospice for caring and loving her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 1 PM, at the Center United Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock, 211 Center St, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated in Donna's honor to Slippery Rock High School Alumni Assoc., PO Box 674, Slippery Rock, PA 16057.
