Donna Joyce Dockrey of Peterson, AL, passed away Thursday, January 30th, at DCH hospital. The first of four children, Donna was born in Chicago, IL, on March 19, 1957, to Joyce Elizabeth Nunn Dockery and Floyd M. Dockery. Soon after, the Dockery family moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where Donna stayed for the majority of her life.
Donna was an old soul. She loved soap operas, puzzle books, Elvis, and gospel. She loved her family with her whole heart. While she never had kids of her own, she sought to love and take care of everyone else in the family. From her brothers and sister, to her nephews and nieces, Donna had a hand in taking care of everyone and loved every minute of it. If you ever needed a hug or someone to talk to, Donna was there for you. In her passing, Donna leaves behind a legacy as a giver and a helper. She was a woman with a heart of gold that chose to live a selfless life dedicated to those she loved.
Donna is survived by her sister Sandra (Sandy) Price and Floyd (Jimbo) Dockery II as well as her brother-in-law Victor Price (Sandy) and sister-in-law Dana Dockery (Jimbo). She also leaves behind her nephews, Andrew Rhodes, Dexter Rhodes, Dylan Price, Cody Dockery, Colt Dockery, and her niece, Savannah Lynn Smith.
Donna is met in heaven by her mother Joyce, her father Floyd, and her brother Cecil (Buster) Dockery, as well as so many other family members and friends that passed before her. The family would like to thank each and every person who has reached out and prayed for peace during this time. We love and appreciate all of you.
