Donna June Hostetler, 80, formerly of Shreve, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Born on April 22, 1945, in Akron, Ohio, Donna was the daughter of Samuel and Ruby (Strickroth) Thompson. She graduated from Medina High School in 1963.

Donna made her home in several places throughout her life, including Wayne County, Ohio; Englewood, Florida; and most recently, Wilmington, North Carolina. She enjoyed bowling, playing poker, cooking, and watching football, but her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her children, Wayne Durbin of Wooster, Larry (Kathy) Durbin of Wilmington, NC, and Wendy Durbin of Salisbury, NC; stepchildren Pete (Candy) Hostetler, Brian Hostetler, Nina Sellers, all of Florida, and Bruce (Sharon) Hostetler of Ohio. She also leaves behind several grandchildren including Kasseady (Logan) Beam and Coral Henderson of NC, Levi Kline, Devin, Aniya, and Ty Durbin of OH, and Tyler Sellers of TN; as well as multiple great-grandchildren. Donna is also survived by her siblings: Leo (Bonnie) Thompson of Lodi, Crystal Thompson, Randy Thompson, and Tracy Rhodes, all of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck Hostetler, grandparents, parents, brothers Gerald Thompson and David Thompson, and sister Melody Thompson.

Friends may call on Saturday, August 16, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Fredericksburg East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.
