Donna M. Macino, 76, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1948, to Casimir and Lorraine (Winiecki) Noto. She spent her formative years in Chicago and graduated from Lourdes High School in 1966. She received her bachelor's degree in special education from the University of Illinois in 1970 and later a master's degree from the University of Dayton in Theology.
She married her loving husband, Jim Macino, on October 4, 1970. In 1978, the couple relocated to Columbia City, where they raised their three sons. Donna's commitment to education and faith was evident in her role as the Associate Director of the Religious Education Department for the Fort Wayne/South Bend diocese and the Director of Religious Education for St. John Bosco for over 30 years, a testament to her unwavering faith and commitment to service. She was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church and was active in several of the women's ministries.
Donna enjoyed a fulfilling life dedicated to her family and the education of countless young minds. Donna's passion for learning was only surpassed by her love for her family, with whom she shared many cherished moments. Outside of her professional life, Donna found joy in scrapbooking, quilting, gardening, reading, and cooking.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jim Macino; three sons, Philip (Danielle) Macino, Dominic (Sayo) Macino, and Michael (Amy Beers) Macino; her sister, Janet Lamb; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Noto; four grandchildren, Ava, Milo, Casimir, and Charlie.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dennis Noto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will a take place at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at St John Bosco Catholic Church, with calling taking place at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, from 9:00 to 9:45.
The family will also receive family and friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30, with a Holy Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Donna will be laid to rest at Ege Catholic Cemetery in Ege.
Memorials may be directed to St. John Catholic Church for Masses.
