Mrs. Donna Sue Greenwood Phillips, age 68, of Elkin, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at her residence. She was born February 28, 1957, in Surry County, to the late Lloyd William Greenwood and Allie Jenkins Greenwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Tony Curtis Phillips.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon Phillips Carver and Willie Carver; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Darren Greenwood and April Wilmoth Greenwood; stepchildren, Sandy Johnson (Todd) and Jeff Phillips; grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Handy (Josh) and Sebastian Martin; step grandchildren, Hunter Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Kaili Phillips and Abraham Phillips; sister and brother-in-law, Colene and Jerry Newman; brother and sister-in-law, Flynt and Tracy Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Donna worked many years at Hugh Chatham Hospital and was a member of Welcome View Baptist Church. She will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother, the best Memaw and Nana, and a feisty, empathetic and caring person and kind to all. Donna’s motto for life was “Live each day as it is your last, & to the fullest. Love everyone &have no regrets”. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson. Services will begin at 2:00 PM, in the Moody-Davis Chapel, with Rev. Tommy Shelton and Rev. Terry Coe officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Roger Miller officiating. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the Phillips family.
