Donna Lee Shillings, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away peacefully at her home in Coweta, OK, on Friday morning, April 18, 2025. She was born on June 24, 1949, in Brownsville, PA. Donna's life was a testament to the power of kindness, family, and the simple joys that make a life well-lived.
Donna's journey began as the cherished daughter of Donald Elson and Piercy Carolyn McCune. She grew up in Brownsville, PA, where she graduated from Brownsville High School in 1967. Her early education laid the foundation for the values she would carry throughout her life: compassion, resilience, and a love for the people around her.
In 1968, Donna married the love of her life, John Vincent Shillings. Their union was a partnership of mutual respect and devotion, and together they built a life filled with laughter and shared interests. Donna's role as a wife, mother, and homemaker was one she embraced with pride and joy, creating a warm and welcoming home for her family and all who entered it.
Donna's heart was always open, and her hands were never still. She loved taking care of people, whether it was through a home-cooked meal, a listening ear, or a comforting hug. Her love for reading allowed her to travel to worlds beyond her own, while her affection for animals showed her gentle spirit and nurturing nature. Donna was also an avid player of games, with Scrabble and card games being among her favorites. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
In 2010, Donna and John made the move from Pennsylvania to Coweta, OK, where they found a new community and continued to make memories together. Their love story, spanning over five decades, remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
Donna's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the importance of family. She is survived by her husband, John Shillings of the home in Coweta, OK; her daughter, Kelly Priebe and husband Robert of Coweta, OK; her twin brother, Donald E McCune and wife Shirley of Butler, PA; and several other family members who will continue to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Elson and Piercy Carolyn McCune.
Donna's presence will be deeply missed, but the light she brought into this world will continue to shine through the lives of those she loved. Her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering commitment to her family will never be forgotten.
While there are no services planned for Donna, her spirit and memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories and celebrate Donna's life online at www.brownfamilycares.com.
