Donna Josette Slipher

Donna Josette Slipher, 76, of Manchester, TN passed away on the morning of Thursday, December 5th surrounded by her loving husband and daughter.Donna was born on February 15 th 1948 to the late Lonnie and Virginia Young at the Queens City Infirmary in Tullahoma, TN. The Young Family moved to Indianapolis, IN where Donna was part of the first graduating class from Cascade High School Clayton, IN in 1966. After graduating high school Donna was employed with the Essex House Hotel and Restaurant where she met her husband, Darrell Slipher. Donna and Darrell married in April of 1970 and went on to have 3 children, Holly Dawn, Mathew Travis, and Bradley Martin. The family lived in Palm Springs, CA from 1973 to 1983 where Donna was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Palm Springs. Donna served in the choir as a vocalist and tambourine player. Donna moved back to Manchester, TN in 1983.Donna never met a stranger, she had an exceptionally joyful and charismatic personality and you could not help but smile while in her presence. She loved her life and she loved her family dearly, always giving and never taking for granted the joys and never backing down from the challenges.Donna had a great appreciation for the simple things, a sweet cup of coffee, her own farm fresh eggs,preparing a large meal for family or planting her favorite fruits and vegetables on the farm. Donna could also play the piano and was an excellent vocalist, but her most noteworthy talent was loving and caring for family and friendsespecially her grandchildren! Donna will be missed by all that knew her.Donna was preceded in death by her parents Lonnie Hobart Young and Dorothy Virginia Cunningham Young. Grandparents Iliff and Stella Young, and Elmer and Mary Cunningham.Her Life is celebrated by her husband Darrell Martin Slipher. Children, Holly Dawn Slipher, Mathew Travis Slipher(Heather) and Bradley Martin Slipher. Sister Judy Gay Young Foley, Aunt Margaret Shelton, Uncle Norman and Donna Cunningham, Sister-in-law Janice Redding, Brother-in law Dwight and Andi Slipher, Brother-in-law Dwaine Slipher.Nieces and Nephews, Monica & Lance McElhaney, Heidi & Shannon Crabtree, Kevin Slipher, Barry Slipher and David Slipher. Grandchildren, Ethan Slipher, Lilly Slipher, Jack Slipher, Bradley Weston Slipher.A memorial service will be held on December 17, 2024 at 12 p.m. at the Normandy United Methodist Church, 200 Center St, Normandy, TN with interment to follow at Hollands Hill Cemetery. Flowers can be sent to the Slipher Residence at 1215 Bel Aire Dr, Tullahoma, TN.
