Jay Pope Obituary
Born on July 10, 1992, Jay D. was the beloved son of Melissa "Lesa" Smotherman Gongola and the late Michael Lynn Pope. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Juanita Pope and Prentice Cooper Pope.
A proud graduate of Cascade High School, Class of 2011, Jay D. was known for his fun-loving spirit and deep love of the outdoors. Whether he was riding Razors or casting a line while fishing, Jay D. found joy in nature.
He is survived by his daughter, Hadley Dean Pope, mother, Lesa Gongola, and siblings, Krista Gongola and Trent Gongola all of Shelbyville. He also leaves behind his grandfather, Greely Smotherman of Shelbyville, along with other family members and friends who will miss him deeply.
Jay D. will be laid to rest in a private graveside service held at Cothran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help assist the family with final expenses.
