DURHAM: Donna Swaringen, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at her home in Durham surrounded by family. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Donald and Mary Stidman.
Donna worked for Duke as an inpatient / outpatient clerk for many years until retirement. Donna was an avid reader, typically spending a quiet time in the morning in study, meditation and prayer. She paid attention to her dreams and regularly attended the annual Summer Dream & Spirituality Conference in Hendersonville, NC. She enjoyed traveling, attending Broadway shows and spending time with her family. Her true love was her faith in Christ and sharing that love with so many.
Mrs. Swaringen is survived by her husband, Roy Swaringen; Brothers: Dave Stidman and John Stidman of Colorado, Sister: Susan Lewis (Tom) of Colorado, Daughter: Krista Marie Johnson (Buck), Sons: Keith Webb (Eva Hildreth) and Kevin Webb (Ruth), Grandchildren: Janeen Webb, Devin Miles (Jay), Kathryn Webb, Aaron Johnson and Brian Johnson, Stepsons: Rob Swaringen (Jenn) and Jon Swaringen, Nieces: Gretta Stidman and Erika Lewis (Colorado) and Nephew: Pete Stidman (Colorado), and many very dear friends across the country.
Donna was preceded in death by a daughter: Mary Kara Webb
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on July 5, 2024 in the sanctuary of Aldersgate United Methodist Church (1320 Umstead Road, Durham, NC 27712) with the Reverend Steve Murphy officiating. The family will receive visitors at 10:00am before the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Aldersgate UMC.
