Donna Jean Tierno

Donna Jean Tierno (Bailey), a lifelong resident of East Boston, passed away peacefully from a long-term illness on January 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of her daughter. She was the daughter of the late Vincent Sikes and Congetta Mary (Cucuzza) Sikes, and a beloved mother to Catrina M. Tierno and her husband George Papagiannis of Watertown.
Donna was a single parent who raised her daughter and struggled and sacrificed for her she was a mother father nurse a listener she was faithful caring and loving to all she knew. She had struggled with illness for half her life but never complained. She managed to take care of her daughter and give her everything, she struggled and sacrificed for her.
Donna was a woman whose heart was as warm as her holiday spirit. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she embraced the season with joy and enthusiasm, from her festive decorations to her famous homemade cookies that filled the air with delicious scents. She took great pleasure in dressing up for the holidays, always bringing a sense of cheer wherever she went. Her love of music was evident in the songs of Amy Grant and Bing Crosby, whose melodies she cherished, especially during those special holiday gatherings.
In addition to her love for the holidays, Donna was an avid artist. She had a creative soul that found expression in many forms. Whether crocheting intricate designs, painting beautiful oil art, or working on detailed diamond art, Donna poured her heart into every project. Her craftwork brought joy not only to her but also to those fortunate enough to receive her hand-made creations.
Donna had a deep love for nature and animals, always finding joy in the simple beauty of the world around her. She cherished time spent outdoors. She also found comfort in cozy evenings watching her favorite Hallmark movies and truly enjoyed dining out, especially when she could savor a good margarita.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Donna's life on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home North Shore Chapel in Peabody. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a procession to St. Adelaide's Church in Peabody for a 12:00 PM Funeral Mass. Donna will then be laid to rest at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
