Mrs. Donna Jean (Rasch) Zemaitis, age 93, of Marne, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray and daughter Diane (Zemaitis) Michalak. Donna leaves behind a large family including six children; Linda (Gordy) Shields, Rick (Karen), Ken (Dorothy), Mark (Marilyn), Rose (Kyle) Weis, and Tom; son-in-law Tom (Kathy) Michalak; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Donna was born on the family farm in Marne where she spent her youth, then settled there with Ray to raise their family. She was an active member of the Marne American Legion Auxiliary and a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Wright Catholic Church.
Donna’s family and friends will remember her for her unwavering loyalty and love for her entire family. She worked at GM for 33 years while raising 7 kids and helped to define the word “grit.” Donna loved hunting, fishing, mushrooming, playing cards and shuffleboard, and enjoyed their Loon Lake cottage and winters in Florida.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 17, 2025 at St. Joseph Wright, 18784 8th Ave. Conklin, MI 49403 with Fr. Jacob Zemaitis and Fr. Andrew Ayers presiding. She will repose one hour prior to the Mass. The family will receive visitors Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. where a 7:00 P.M. Rosary will be prayed at Throop Funeral Home, 214 Church St. Coopersville, MI 49404. A committal service will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Lori’s Voice, P.O. Box 66, Coopersville, MI 49404 or a charity of your choice. Condolences for the family may be left on Donna’s guestbook at www.throopfh.com.
