Donnie Mullinix Obituary

He was born February 6, 1942 in Jamestown, Tennessee, the son of James G. and Ruby (Matthews) Mullinix. Donnie attended the York Institute in Jamestown before moving to Muncie and graduating from Muncie Central High School.
Mr. Mullinix was a Muncie Police Officer for 31 years.
Mr. Mullinix was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Mitchell L. Mullinix and Lana Mullinix; a grandson, Nicholas Mullinix; four sisters, Pauline Hinds, Roselle Deardorff, Shirley Goney, and Kathy Persons; five brothers, Pat Mullinix, Billy Mullinix, David Mullinix, Clifford Mullinix, and Kenneth Mullinix.
Donnie is survived by one granddaughter, Brittany Vance; five great grandchildren; two brothers, James C. (Miriam) Mullinix, Angola, and Bob (Virginia) Mullinix, Cookville, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
To honor Donnie's wishes, there will be no visitation and private services will take place.

We are so very sorry for your loss. We knew Donnie from living a couple of houses down from him. We loved him and the watchful eye he kept on the neighborhood. I had told him how much I loved his gardening/landscaping and he went right to work to split many of his plants to help me with getting my own landscaping started. Always friendly to us and we loved going to sit and visit with him on warm summer evenings in the garage. He will be missed.

I was worried something had happened when Donnie did not show up for his appointment with me on the 25th. He never missed an appointment without letting me know. I and several other clinicians are deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I was honored to have had a chance to get to know Donnie and we enjoyed many laughs and a few tears together. We laughed deep belly laughs about him drinking fireball and a toy store owner in my hometown who dresses like an elf. He never failed to express gratitude to others at our clinic and I always looked forward to seeing him. He expressed deep love for his family and grandchildren on a regular basis and was fighting everyday to get better for his boys. I hope his transition to his angel wings was a peaceful one and I will never forget him.
