Donovan C. Twombley of Johnston died Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Unity Point Taylor House Hospice.
He was born June 26, 1932 in Osceola, Iowa to Ardath & Edith (McComas) Twombley. On April 21, 1954, he married Joyce Cole. She passed away June 22, 1999.
On April 28, 2022, he married his long-time companion, Margaret (Margo) Whiting.
Donovan is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Whiting, daughters, Deborah (Douglas) Karns of Cedar Falls, IA, Anne Twombley of Urbandale, IA; son, Scott (Rosalee) Twombley of San Diego, CA, step-daughter, Sandra (Neal) Howard of Des Moines, IA; step-son, James (Vickie) Fandrei of MO; eight Grandchildren, three step- grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David, sister, Conda, and his first wife.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines. Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday following visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Christian Church in Urbandale or Unity Point Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
The family would like to acknowledge the kind and caring staff at Taylor House Hospice for their excellent care of our loved one and our family.

Margo, I am so sorry. Donovan was such a nice man and so friendly. You were such a perfect couple. You seemed so happy together. I know you will miss him.
