Trevino Funeral Home - AliceDora Vera Tanguma peacefully entered eternal life on October 3, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will forever be held dear by her family and friends.
Dora attended school in the Alice Independent School District, graduating from William Adams High School class of 1967. She was proud to be a Coyote. She instilled in her children the importance of education, being punctual to class/work, respect, and honesty. She was always supportive in all their school and extracurricular activities.
Dora worked at Haggar’s in Robstown, at the Alice Pediatric Clinic, and for the San Diego Independent School District. She was supportive of the San Diego Vaqueros, as she worked at San Diego High School as a custodian for many years, where she kept the school looking immaculate. She took pride in her work ethics and instilled the same in her co-workers.
Dora was a jack of all trades and there wasn't anything she couldn’t do. She always worked alongside her late husband, Arnoldo, as they built their home, working on plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, gardening, and her favorite mowing with the tractor. She taught her children the values and rewards of hard work.
Dora also enjoyed dancing, watching sports games on television; her favorites were wrestling and of course, going to the Coyotes and Vaqueros sports games. She loved going shopping and had an eye for beautiful cars, she kept her cars spic-n-span, in and out. Gambling was another of her favorite pastimes, especially going to Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass and to the surrounding little casinos to play maquinitas. She made the best hot toast sandwiches and beef caldo, but the BBQ with her secret ingredient homemade BBQ sauce was her most delicious dish.
Family was Dora’s number one priority. She was always ready to generously give of her time or service, or assist in doing what brought her so much happiness and joy which was helping with the grandchildren, taking lunch to them at school, taking them or picking them up from school or sports events, or taking them to McDonald’s for their favorite snacks.
Dora is proceeded in death by the love of her life and husband of 52 years, Arnold L. Tanguma; her parents, Alejo and Eloisa Vera; and her brothers, Juan (Delfina) Vera and Jose Maria “Chema” Vera.
Dora’s spirit will live on through her son, Carlo (Evelyn) Tanguma, her grandsons who she raised as her own, Andrew A. Tanguma (Natalie Trevino) and Carlo Tanguma II; her daughters, Priscilla (Javier) Rodriguez and Clarissa Lee Tanguma (Raymond Bentancourt); her grandchildren who were the loves and light of her life, Krysta Gonzalez, Javier Rodriguez, Jr (Reena Gonzalez), Aaron (Tiffany) Rodriguez, Oscar E. Flores, Pamela L. Garcia, Bryanna L. (Oscar J.) Pena, Rolando Garcia, Jr, and Emma Sofia Tanguma; as well as 11 great grandchildren; her siblings, Alejo Vera Jr. and Minerva Noriega; sister-in-law, Gloria Vera; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
