Doreatha accepted Christ at an early age, starting her Christian journey at St Marks Baptist Church and then became a member of Spring Street Baptist Church. She attended school st Gunckel and Lincoln Elementary. Robinson Jr High, and Scott High School. She graduated from Stautzenberger College in Health Care. She was employed with Hunts Factory, Inverness Club, Electric Prime. and P & J Industry.
Doreatha was preceded in death by her father, David Richardson Bey, Mother, Lorena Richardson Bey, brothers, David Richardson Bey, Donald Richardson Bey, Delbert Richardson Bey, Dale Richardson Bey, Darius Richardson Bey; sisters, Donna Logan, Evelynn Ervin; granddaughter, Precious Douglas; husband, James Self.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory and celebrate her life, daughters. Tina Richardson, Linda (Kevin) Smith, Renee Douglas, Jean Bottley and Michele Burel (Christopher) Gross; special granddaughter, Bryona Zeigler, 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; siblings, Reverend Danny Richardson, Robert Ervin, Delores Busby, Donnetta Richardson, Arleatha Cathcart and Theresa Ervin, special friends, Aretha Overton, JoAnne brown, Sabrina Williams
