Doreen Lynn Howell Summerfield, 52, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Davis Medical Center in Elkins. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
Doreen was born Sunday, February 27, 1972, in South Haven, MI, a daughter of the late Donnie Howell and Georgieanna Short Howell. On September 26, 1998, in Virginia, she was married to Dany Lee Summerfield, who survives. They had celebrated twenty-six years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Doreen's memory are two sons, Jeremy Summerfield and companion, Shanna Eddleman, and Ryan Summerfield and companion, Hayley, all of Elkins, three grandchildren, Kasen, Sophia, and Emmett, two brothers, Donnie Howell and wife, Sandie and Travis Howell and wife, Maggie, three sisters, Deborah Ann Philben-Mallow and husband, William Charles Mallow, Sr., Rose Marie Phares, and Lisa Dawn Howell-Warthen, three brothers-in-law, James "Jim" Hunt, Kevin Henry, and Bobby Hamrick, several nieces and nephews that she loved to spoil.
Preceding Doreen in death besides her mother are three sisters, Laura Jean Hunt, Shirley Ann Corley, and Donna Gail Hamrick, one nephew, Jerry Hartwell, and her special dog, Lucy.
Doreen attended the school in Oak Hill and had worked in food service at Davis Medical Center. She loved her family more than anything and cherished friendships just as much. She enjoyed cooking for anyone that would sit with her and have a meal. She felt blessed to be the first to lend a hand to anyone in need and was a blessing to the entire community for her efforts. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Tips, and she lived a simple life appreciating all things great and small.
Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5pm until 7pm. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 11am. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman.
