Doretha “Dotsy” Cecile (Alsup) White, 85, of Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away on August 24, 2025.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, August 29, 2025 at Morgan Cemetery.

Dotsy was born on March 9, 1940, in Kopperl, Texas, the eldest of three children of David C. “Buckle” Alsup and Emma “Lorene” (Johnson) Alsup. She spent her childhood in Meridian, Texas, before the family relocated to Grand Prairie in 1954.

She attended Grand Prairie High School, where she met her future husband, William “David” White Sr.. Dotsy graduated from GPHS in 1958 and later attended Draughon’s Practical Business College in Dallas, where she became proficient in shorthand.

On September 19, 1960, she married David, and the two were married 37 years until his passing in 1997.

Dotsy began her career at Grand Prairie State Bank and later worked as a secretary at the main post office in Dallas. She retired in the early 2000s and was fortunate to enjoy many years of retirement.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, William “David” White Jr. and Laura “Dianne” White Bankston; and her grandchildren, Kalli Bankston, Gillian (Paul) Campbell, and Sheridan White. She is also survived by several sisters-in-law, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dotsy was preceded in death by her husband David, her brother Bill Alsup, her sister Joanne Williams, and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local PBS station in Dotsy’s honor, and maybe treat yourself to something cute from QVC, just like she would have wanted.
