Doris Bartel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pierce Funeral Home - Fairview on Jan. 3, 2026.
Doris June (Cornelsen) Bartel was born March 24, 1932 in Enid, OK to Peter J. and Eva E. (Regier) Cornelsen as the youngest of three children. She departed this life on January 2, 2026 at Fairview, OK. Doris was baptized at the Bethany Evangelical Church 10th and Maple, Enid along with 20 other candidates on February 24, 1946 by Pastor Jack Adrian and of the Enid Mennonite Brethren Church and was a lifelong church member. She attended McKinley Elementary and Enid High School graduating in 1950.

Doris worked at Kress Five and Dime and the City of Enid work program while attending Enid High School. It was during this time she met Willard, and they wedded November 18, 1949, at the Enid M.B. Church. They made their home in Enid where she worked for Montgomery Ward and Southwestern Bell until the children were born, Patty, Larry, and Randy.

In 1963 they moved to Fairview, OK. Doris loved to play the piano and her favorite song was "Under the Double Eagle." She took piano lessons and played piano accompaniments for band students. As a band parent she made sure her children played an instrument. She also sang alto in the church choir and painted china/ceramics. When the kids left home Doris worked for TG&Y and Attorney Edward Montgomery. Doris and Willard opened Fairview Flowers (florist) in 1977 and expanded to Enid in 1981 (Enid Floral). Fairview Flowers sold in 1993 and Enid Floral in 2000 when she officially retired. Doris worked the lunch crowd at Golden Fried Chick for several years after retirement. Doris and Willard would also go RV-ing to Colorado or Branson, MO. During her life she was also involved in Mother's Club and floral associations (American Floral Society, Tele floral, and FTD).

Her parents and husband, Willard preceded Doris in death and she is survived by daughter Patty and her husband Jim Harvey of Kremlin, OK; son Larry and his wife Debbie Bartel of Fairview, OK; and son Randy Bartel of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren; Bryan (Gretchen) Siler, Chris (Stacey)Siler, Celeste (Richard) Combs, Sherry (Greg) Weese, Christiana Rodrizuez, and Emma Mikulec; nine great grandchildren; Alli (Dayton) King, Ethan (Kaleigh) Siler, Mathias Siler, Max Siler, Jantz Siler, Gwenyth Rodriguez, Elijah Tate-Rodriguez, Daniel Smith, and Lonnie Combs; seven great-great grandchildren; Mila, Jovi, Leni, Etta, Emerson, Everleigh, and Everett.
