Doris A. Berglund

Doris A. Berglund, 94, of Courtyard Terrace in Boone, Iowa, passed away at Courtyard Terrace in Boone on Saturday, March 8, 2025. She had been a resident of Courtyard Terrace since May 2022.
Doris was born on October 9, 1930, in Boxholm, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Laura (Stenberg) Anderson. She graduated from Boxholm High School in 1948. On September 8, 1949, Doris married Edward Berglund at the Lutheran Church in Boxholm, Iowa. She later went to Iowa State University, graduating in 1969. Doris taught at Lincoln Elementary School in Boone until her retirement.
She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone and the ISU Cyclone Club and an avid fan of ISU sports. She was also involved in several bridge clubs. Doris enjoyed quilting and needlework. She and Ed also enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, especially visiting their daughter, Kathleen, in Sweden.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Berglund; parents, Edward and Laura Anderson; brother, Donald Anderson; and son-in-law, Ben Howe.
She is survived by her children: Kris (Tim) Latham of Mason City, IA, Kathleen (Bjorn) Johansson of Gimdalen, Sweden, Mary Howe of Boone, IA, and Becky (Bill) Carlisle of Racine, WI; grandchildren: Travis (Kim) York of Atlanta, GA, Tyler (Jen) York of Grimes, IA, Todd (Shanna) York of Grimes, IA, Henrik (Kristin) Johansson of Gimdalen, Sweden, Caroline (Johan) Pettersson of Nordannälden, Sweden, Katie Kuehner of Des Moines, IA, Ben (Erica) Howe of Hudson, IA, Jon (Laura) Howe of Ankeny, IA, Jennifer (Tim) Hell of Racine, WI, and Holly (Alex) Georgeson of Racine, WI; 21 great-grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; and other relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Courtyard Terrace for all the support and care they showed to Mom while she lived there.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, with Pastor Robin Coughennower officiating. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be before the memorial service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church. A private family burial will be at Lawn Cemetery in Boxholm at a later date.
