Doris L. (Bowman) Gilliland, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, at home in Granville, PA, at the age of 82. Born on December 15, 1942, in East Stroudsburg, PA, she lived a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished family moments.

Doris dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her role as a homemaker, where her talents in cooking and baking brought joy to all who knew her. She was especially famous for her extraordinary Christmas cookies, a tradition that will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. A devoted fan of Elvis Presley, Doris found joy in his music throughout her life. She was a loving wife, devoted mom, grandma, and great-grandma, roles she treasured most in her life. Her warmth and kindness will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Doris was Christian by faith.

Doris is survived by her devoted children: Tammy L. Gilliland of Granville, PA, Brenda L. (Scott) Vogel of Granville, Cindy L. (Michael) Blake of Stroudsburg, PA, Walter A. (Monica) Gilliland of Wysox, PA, Albert H. (Ann Marie) Gilliland of Windfall, PA, and Minnie M. (Thomas) Beach of Granville Summit, PA, and Delores A. "Bubby" (Artie) Holdren of Granville, PA. Doris also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will continue to honor her legacy. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Albert H. and Minnie M. (Smith) Bowman, her dear husband Walter A. Gilliland, Sr., who passed on July 21, 2008, and her sister Debra Henning.

The family will hold a celebration of Doris' life at a later date, where her memory will be cherished and her life celebrated by those who loved her dearly. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. has been entrusted with the arrangements.
