Doris Jeanne Jennette

Doris Jeanne Jennette, 87, of Louisville, Kentucky departed this life on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Baptist Health of Louisville.
Born on Tuesday, June 25, 1935 in the Astoria neighborhood of Long Island, New York she was the daughter of the late Norman Collier & Regine A. Tieffrey. Doris graduated from Shawnee High School, Class of 1953. She loved children. For many years she kept infants & toddlers in her home until parents felt comfortable putting them into a daycare program. She was so proud of her loving and thoughtful husband and three precious children – Janene, Ron & Dale. Her small dog, Truffy, who passed away in December filled the void when the children made their own homes. In her senior years she was always crocheting baby blankets for grand – babies & neighbors.
While the three children were home and attending Church school, Doris worked as a Secretary to the Sales Manager of Gamble Brothers until she retired. She was also a member of the Louisville First Seventh Day Adventist Church where she helped to run a school, serving as a leader in the Home & School Program, going as far as selling Oranges to help fund additions to the school.
Besides her parents, Norman & Regine A. Collier; her grandmother, Suzanne Clemence Martinaud; & her beloved dog, Truffy preceded Doris in her passing.
Left to cherish her unforgettable memory is her husband, Clarence Edward Jennette, Jr.; children, Janene (Bill) Tidwell, Ronald (Bern) Jennette & Dale Jennette; 8 – grandchildren, 11 – great – grandchildren; sisters, Suzy Carroll & Sandy Kovalski; aunt, Juanita Rapp; plus, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Dignity Chapel of the Evergreen Funeral Home. Doris will be entombed in the St. Philip Mausoleum of the Evergreen Cemetery & Garden Mausoleums. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Hour of 3:00 p.m.
