Edward H. Drury, CSM (Retired)
Born in Louisville, KY on August 7, 1937 to Mary and Clarence Drury, Ed passed away on
November 4, 2025. Ed married Judith Frantz Drury on June 18, 1960. They had 4 children,
Leslee Benfield, Kelly Hagan (Mark), Troy (Cheryl), David (Melissa) and a special adopted
niece, Stacey Stetson (and Family). He was grandpa to 8 grandchildren, Heather Drury
(Dustin Kennedy), Alexa Coury (Ryan), Capt. Caitlin Kutchi (Capt. Justin), Skylar Drury, Anna
Hagan, Jessica Cummins (Jack), Sophia Drury, & Sarah Drury. Great Grandpa to Jude, Jack,
& James. He is also survived by half-brother Larry Franzell, and brothers-in-law Sonny,
Terry, Gary, and David (Linda) Frantz, along with many nieces and nephews. Ed was
predeceased by his parents, sister, Vicky Connolly, mother-in-law, Dorothy Frantz, brother and sister-in-law, Ted & Beverly Drury and nephew Craig Drury.
Ed worked for Ford Motor Company for 39 years where he had to run to keep up with the
line earning him the nickname "Runner". He served in the Kentucky Army National Guard
for 37 years. He loved the Guard and the friendships he made there. He was also a proud
B-team basketball coach at St. Bernard, winning three City championships, and a later
parishioner of St. Aloysius, Peewee Valley.
After retirement, Ed worked with at-risk youth at the Bluegrass ChalleNGe Academy and
delivered Meals on Wheels-often joking that he was older than his clients. He still met up
with his boyhood friends for lunch at Check's where they retold the same stories.
Thanks to Hosparus and a special thank you to Mary Brown for help in caring for Ed.
Visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home East Louisville, (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40243) on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 10, 2025 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, (212 Mt Mercy Dr, Pewee Valley, Kentucky 40056)
